Thinning Ice in the Arctic!
The polar bears live in the southernmost part of the Arctic and would be the first victims of a warming trend that is already threatening ecosystems, food sources, and the traditional way of life of the Inuit.
Changing weather patterns are also threatening some rare caribou. In other areas the seals have disappeared - no ice floes, no seals.
Changes to the climate have also brought electrical storms that were unknown in the Arctic. Animals don't know what to do because they have never seen lightning or heard thunder before. What would you think if you saw an electrical storm for the first time?
People who live in many northern communities may also have to move. If the permafrost (which keeps the Arctic soil permanently frozen) melts - their houses could fall over!
